I have a recording from a conference I attended, of a writer, Mike Brewer, called “Writing with Fire.” It was great. He talked first of being young and toasting marshmellows. Afterward he would did his stick in the coals and get it red hot, and then swish it through the air, “…writing short-lived words on the canvas of the night….” He went on to say he never got over that feeling, he just uses different tools today.
What a great quote by Mike Brewer. I don’t think I’ve ever written that deep — with fire from my soul — it’s very scary.
